【Arma Reforger】Latest 1.7 Update Changes (Non-FIA Edition)

The Arma Reforger version 1.7 update is here. Finally, the “FIA (Partisan) faction is now playable!” This has caused a huge reaction (mixed feelings?) within the community.

However, the terrifying part of this update doesn’t stop there. Actually, there are “super important” specification changes quietly implemented that fundamentally affect the game balance.

In this article, I’ve summarized the must-know changes as the “Top 5 Impactful Changes of the 1.7 Update.” If you don’t know these, you might end up being the war criminal who blows up your own base…!?

🎖️ No.5: Barbed Wire Can Now Be Destroyed with Bayonets!

It’s a subtle change, but it broadens your tactical options. Those pesky barbed wires blocking your path can now be destroyed by stabbing the iron bar (support pillar) about 10 times with a bayonet. Try it out when you need to breach an obstacle!

(Note: Chain-link fences can technically be destroyed this way too, but the number of stabs required is unrealistic. You’d probably get tendonitis before the fence breaks…)

🚙 No.4: “Inertia” Added to Movement. Watch Out for Rollovers!

The character and vehicle physics systems have been refined, and “inertia” is now applied to movement.

  • Infantry Movement: When moving sideways (strafing/crab walking), you now decelerate. The unnatural, rapid A-D strafing (jiggle peeking) of the past is much harder now.
  • Vehicle Movement: The vehicle inertia system has also been overhauled. Sharp turns at high speeds will highly likely result in a rollover. Drive safely!

📡 No.3: Anti-Troll Measures Implemented for “Radio Relay Stations”!

Have you ever experienced this? You’re in the middle of a fierce firefight at the frontlines, and suddenly, the “Radio Relay Station (antenna)” in your rear base is dismantled by a friendly troll, causing the frontline to collapse instantly… If you play Conflict, you’ve probably had this despairing experience at least once.

To eradicate this tragedy, defensive measures against antenna removal have finally been added! It’s a fairly complex system, but here’s a brief explanation:

  • Main Operating Base (MOB): The very last remaining antenna cannot be dismantled by anyone. (If you build a second one, the first one becomes removable).
  • Control Points (Victory Point Bases): Friendlies can no longer dismantle them. As for the enemy faction, they can only destroy it while the base is in a state of being captured (while the capture gauge is visible on screen). This remains unchanged from version 1.6.
  • Forward Operating Bases (FOB): Radio relay stations inside FOBs built by your own faction can now only be dismantled by “Commander’s order”. Also, they cannot be destroyed by enemies.

💡 Side Note: The default “FIA faction antennas” often found at Control Points are exempt from the above rules and can be destroyed by anyone at any time. It’s safer to build your own second antenna at critical Control Points.

🛡️ No.2: US Army Humvee Bulletproof Glass Massively Buffed! It’s Practically an Armored Car Now!?

With this update, the survivability of the US Army Humvees (the fully armored types, like the ones with the M2 heavy machine gun or the medical variant) has improved to a level where you might suspect it’s a bug.

Originally, the armored parts of the Humvee were tough enough to withstand rifle fire, but it had a clear weakness: “occupants could be shot and killed through the glass.” However, this glass has now been massively reinforced, completely sealing off this weakness.

We tested the bulletproof performance of the glass:

It stops rifles, machine guns, and even SVD armor-piercing (AP) rounds cannot penetrate it.

Incredibly, it can withstand about 2 to 10 shots (randomized) at point-blank range even from large-caliber heavy machine guns like the Soviet 12.7mm and 14.5mm (BTR/BRDM). (It might be tougher than an LAV… seriously, wtf lol)

Until the glass is completely shattered, the occupants inside take absolutely zero damage.

Looking at its overall survivability, it’s completely an armored vehicle now:

  • Front and Sides (Doors): Soviet infantry platoon rifles, machine guns, and SVDs all fail to penetrate.
  • Rear: Can barely be penetrated at point-blank range by a 7.62mm machine gun or SVD AP rounds.

Survivability against large-caliber heavy machine guns like the Soviet 12.7mm and 14.5mm (BTR/BRDM) has also been significantly enhanced.
If you load AP rounds into the turret machine gun, it’s become such a monster that it won’t lose even in a head-on shootout with a BTR.

You literally have nothing to fear except RPGs lol.

💡 Side Note: The penetration system is very complex, so bullets can occasionally slip through gaps near the engine, etc. Don’t get overconfident.

⚠️ [CAUTION] The “Open-Top” Humvee is Just Cloth!

Be extremely careful with the Humvee variant where the cargo bed is covered in canvas. It has frontal armor, but the side doors and glass are practically just cloth, and even rifles will easily penetrate and instantly kill you.

You can carry slightly more supplies, but there is almost no benefit to driving this into a battlefield.

💥 No.1: Supply Containers = Massive Bombs!? A Hellscape of Chain Explosions

And now, the undisputed #1 most impactful change. In base building, the “Container Warehouse for storing supplies” has become a destructible object.

RPGs and helicopter rockets can destroy it, of course, but even just firing a few rounds from a grenade launcher will blow it up. And when it’s destroyed… it causes a massive explosion, and “all” the supplies stored inside instantly vanish. Naturally, nearby players and vehicles also take massive damage from the blast.

【Countermeasure】 Because it’s too dangerous, avoid using supply containers as much as possible.

The Terrifying Domino Chain Reaction

What’s even more terrifying is if you’ve built multiple containers next to each other. If one container explodes, the blast triggers the next container, creating a hellscape of continuous, domino-style massive explosions. It’s the moment when all your hard-earned supplies turn to ash in an instant.

So, how do we store supplies?

If you want to store and keep your supplies safely, I strongly recommend building an “Armory” instead of a container and storing them there!
